Who is Erin Skye..?

Perthian from Western Australia. Riding on the opportunity and joy of having slovenian heritage; living and working from Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Strong woman, flexible gal, team player and lover of a good adventure. Always up for a challenge and constantly looking for new ways to be spending time on beautiful projects with cool people in new places.

Strongly influenced by the body's angles and a/symmetries, a human’s relation to space, intimate atmospheres, tiny intricate sounds and the connection performers and audiences have with one another; Erin brings her specific ‘wonky yet beautiful’ movement quality and dynamic to every project she participates in.

The longer story..

Growing up in Mullaloo, Western Australia, Erin was the child always doing the splits, clambering all over the monkey bars and bending herself into knots. An national artistic gymnast turned into youth circus practitioner, the stage was a happy place and when it become clear one could be paid to perform with circus, all other options of work flew out the window. So with 7 years of training, teaching and performing experience from Kinetica CDT in her pocket, Erin pursued her circus dreams and moved to Rotterdam, NL, to study at Codarts.

Graduating in 2019, cum laude, with her act ‘Welcome to the void’, Erin was nominated for the BNG circus prize and followed by performing said act over 330 times on the GOP. Varieté theater stages in 2022 and 2023.

Between 2021 and 2022 the aussie artist created a solo performance titled A Circle of Exchange; an experiment, pulling together circus and ASMR (the genre of tiny sounds and whispers) as modes of direct connection and introduction between strangers/audience members. Along the European fringe circuit, it was granted the ‘Innovation in Performance’ prize at the 2022 Stockholm Fringe Festival.

Over the course of the last few years Erin has had the opportunity to perform with many lovely companies such as; Boost Producties, Back Pocket, Scapino Ballet, Chateau de Versailles and most recently and up coming; Cirque Galapiat.

Erin constantly looks to expand her repertoire and skills, encouraged and inspired by all the other artists she gets to meet and work alongside. Moving from Australia to Europe drew her closer to the wider world, placing her work deep within the growing community of the Dutch contemporary circus sector.

Whilst the future is always uncertain for circus artists, now more than ever it seems, Erin is proud to live on the exciting and dangerous edge of ‘regular’ society.

Away from stability, but full of Life.
